I was initially attracted to the Doc Johnson Lucid Dream No. 14 because of the strange look it has. Most of my other g-spot vibrators are the same tried and tested design, but this posed something a little different.

It’s design is intended to make g-spot stimulation easy. Having a tilted bulbous head to easily find your g-spot and a slender shaft to make angling it more comfortable. Although it’s not until you actually get it out of the box and try to use it that you realize just how badly designed this vibrator really is.

The packaging of the Lucid Dream 14 claims that it is made from phthalate-free PVC, but the smell and taste of this toy say otherwise. It really is horrible, even after washing this multiple times the smell would not go away.

It is available in see-thru yellow or purple, I opted for the purple as it’s my favorite color for sex toys. It’s texture is smooth and looks very appealing.

The pictures of this vibrator make it look really well designed, but once it’s out of the packaging the flaws are made very obvious. The head is 4.5″ at it’s widest point and angled in such a way that you need to insert it at an awkward angle making for a very uncomfortable first impression.

After inserting the 4.5″ wide head, you can barely even feel the 2″ wide shaft, although the 7″ insertable length tapers out again to a 5″ wide base which makes for an interesting sensation when inserted fully.

Including the 2 x AA batteries which it takes, this sex toy weighs in at just 0.5lb

The screw-on battery cap is located at the base along with the twist dial for adjusting the intensity of the vibrating bullet inside the head. The bullet has 3 levels of vibration – Low, medium and high – All of which are very quiet. Twisting the dial during use is very easy and at it’s most powerful setting is surprisingly strong for such a cheap vibrator. The only disappointing thing about the vibrations is that they’re focused in the head and almost no vibration can be felt along the shaft.

The Lucid Dream No. 14 is waterproof and, although I’ve tried it in the shower, I’ve yet to try it completely submerged in water such as in the bath.

Water-based lube is the lubricant of choice for this sex toy to ensure no damage is done to the (questionable) material it’s made of.

It’s not possible to sterilize this toy so a thorough cleaning with soap and water or sex toy cleaner is required. After leaving it out to dry it didn’t appear to collect any unwanted dust or lint.

Like many sex toys in this price range, it comes packaged in a clear plastic box, showing off the vibrator. Included are instructions.

The Verdict

I’ve seen may glowing reviews of the Doc Johnson Lucid Dream No. 14, but for me using it was a totally unpleasurable experience. Inserting the ridiculously shaped head was an effort, only to have to work really hard to position it to get the necessary stimulation. I would not recommend this vibrator to anybody. Beginners will find it’s odd shape difficult to get used to and more experienced users will just become frustrated by it’s lack of…well…’definition around the edges’. The Pocket Rocket and the Pocket Rocket Plus both by Doc Johnson are far better products.

How should it be used?

The Pros:

The Pocket Rocket Plus has a great small size which makes it portable and nice. You are able to just toss it into your purse, suitcase, and more. You can even keep it in your nightstand for easy and quick access.

Since it is technically a “neck massager” and not a vibrator, there is that element of discreetness to it, if that is what you are looking for.

Although the Pocket Rocket Plus isn’t an expensive vibrator, it really depends on where you plan to shop. Many will sell the Pocket Rocket plus for $10 while others may charge on the upwards of $25. There are plenty of knockoffs out there and they don’t last as long as the originals. The part that seems to break the most happens to be the twist off and on feature. You have to twist the center of the vibrator to turn it on. Other knockoffs parts will break quicker and that is the first thing to go. Although, it has not happened with the Original Pocket Rocket Plus. It feels like it is made of plastic, but it is thicker and sturdier than all of the other brands. So, this one should last you quite a while.

It only takes 1 “AA” battery, and so that means that it isn’t that expensive to power either. It has been within my experience that an Energizer or Duracell battery will last the longest for your Pocket Rocket Plus, not to mention having a rechargeable battery will always work best. The batteries will last you a long time especially if it isn’t stored within your Pocket Rocket Plus.

The best part is that you should not let that small size fool you. The Pocket Rocket Plus does pack a pretty big punch for being a clitoral stimulator.
